Leading Florida-based Contract Research Organization Partners With University to Train Tomorrow’s Medical Research Professionals

Miami, FL, Aug. 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Biorasi, a leading full-service global contract research organization (CRO), is excited to announce two new certificate programs through Nova Southeastern University to provide targeted education and job skills for future healthcare workers in South Florida.  The certificate programs are a joint effort between the two organizations to create a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) graduate certificate program through the university’s Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences. This certificate program will help prepare students to enter the rapidly growing field of clinical research and provide them with the practical skills and knowledge to secure employment in a well-paying career in the sciences.

“This program is a tremendous opportunity”, said Dr. Boris Reznik, Chairman of Biorasi. “Not just for the students, who will be picking up highly in-demand skills in what is forecast to be a $180bn industry by 2020. But also for South Florida. Students that graduate from these programs will be prepared to enter a job with a salaries over 50% higher than the Florida median wage.”

South Florida has long been a hub for the healthcare industry, primarily in personal healthcare. But there is small core industry of pharmaceutical R&D that could be larger with the right talent pool.

“Together with key local pharma companies, we hope graduates of this program will be the nucleus around which South Florida can grow a true pharmaceutical research and development hub, and help grow the region economically.”

Biorasi has worked with instructors and administrators at Nova Southeastern since 2016 to create the CRA certificate program. The company has used its almost two decades of experience in designing, planning, and managing clinical trials to tailor the CRA program to give students the ability to graduate and immediately enter the workforce as a clinical research associate (CRA).

Beyond consulting on the development of the program, Dr. Mari Heghinian of Biorasi will be teaching some of the required courses. Other Biorasi staff members will provide their first-hand experience and assist in classes under the direction of NSU faculty. Biorasi plans to offer students immersive internships during the course of the program, as well as full-time positions once they graduate.
